The Spiritual Heart of Krabi
The first is Krabi's most famous temple. Its name comes from the legend that a tiger once lived in this cave. Today it is known for its over 1,200 steps leading up to the summit. There, visitors are awaited by a sacred Buddha footprint and a spectacular 360-degree view of the landscape, mountains, and sea – a place that challenges and rewards both body and mind.
Originally known as "Wat Bang Thong", the temple received its current name "Wat Mahathat Wachiramongkol" on November 16, 2006, bestowed by His Majesty King Rama X. At the same time, the royal monogram "M.W.K." was enshrined on the front gable of the main shrine. On March 26, 2025, the temple was officially elevated to a Third-Class Royal Monastery by royal proclamation.
The third is a quiet temple by the sea, surrounded by mountains and nature. Here, the simple life of the community is reflected, deeply connected to their faith. The peaceful atmosphere invites visitors to pause – a place for rest, reflection, and inspiration.

The golden Phra Mahathat Chedi, standing approximately 95 metres tall, is the tallest pagoda in southern Thailand. Inspired by the Mahabodhi Temple in India, its interior is adorned with magnificent murals depicting the life of the Buddha.
